Inspired by Wizards & Warriors and Ironsword : Wizards & Warriors II from the Nintendo Entertainment System
Legacy of Kuros is a fanmade game. It attempts to re-create, re-tell and improve upon the first two games. Currently it is a work in progress that intends to upgrade some visual elements and redesign levels from scratch, while staying true to the classic.
The projects main intent is to further the education of coding and game making. As such we do not intend to infringe on copyrights or profit from this venture.
I'm currently looking for people with GameMaker Studio 2 experience to assist with coding for AI (collision detection), parallax backgrounds, health/magic/inventory (stats), save/load/options menu.
I've created an itch.io webpage that I will use to backup the assets that are being worked on, as well as the source assets. This is a great starting point at to look at the project without the GameMaker project source.

The 240916 package mostly contains sourced sprite sheets, maps, and audio. Managed to source and modify a custom font that is used in WW2. A lot of sprite work was done to create individual animation frames in PNG for transparency. In planning for levels, includes backgrounds for parallax scrolling. Anything else is very rough draft as everything was literally put together within the past 2 weeks.
Legacy of Kuros List of Improvements - Custom TTF font created sourced from WW2 - Start screen artwork created by AI, Ironwsord from a "Resident Evil 4 Remake", tilted to stand straight. - WW1 & WW2 Audio was imported and upgraded to sound like stereo with a 15ms delay on and 50% pan. It also serves as a placeholder for an HD soundtrack to be sourced from remixes. - Spritework for Eagle King restored from beta animations. - Most sprites from WW1 imported and modified to allow better coloration outside the NES palete limitations. - Some WW1 sprites have additional animations or were upgraded to WW2 versions in some cases. - Kuros sprites now retains his sword and sheild in his animations after falling, landing and dying. - Extra frames added to acorn, clock, coins, egg, tropy, treasure - keys sprites updated to Ironsword TODO notes - Intro and Credits screens need to be fixed for text scrolling. - NES didn't really have backgrounds so pixel art was sourced for parallax scrolling, but... - Parallax scrolling needs to be fixed. - Intro/Credits Text scrolling needs to be fixed. - Most Kuros/player controls needs implementation. - gaurdian should be a red copy the kuros sprites. - at the end of part 1, Kuros will fight the guardian. - Most level pixel art from WW1 & WW2 need to be imported and modified for use with GameMaker's NineSlice - Most of the sprites from WW2 need to be recreated from in-game pixels as we can't find source for spritesheets. - Most SFX from WW2 need to be sourced. - Main Menu, Save/Load, Options menu needs implementation. - Inventory (Weapons/Spells), InnShop (Buy,Chance) needs implementation. - Enemy AI, Collision, and Platforming needs implementation. - Lives, health, money, magic system needs implementation.
